He Called Mommy. The Phone Exploded (the Full Story)
November 3, 2026 · Funny Toddler Video · 4 min read
This is our longest Little Bosses Daily story yet, and every second of it is a business meeting. Milo, three years old and dressed for work in a golden crown and teal pajamas, has an important call to make. He has borrowed Mommy's phone (without asking, obviously) and he is going to call Mommy on it. The deal goes great until the phone explodes. Then it gets complicated.
The story: one call, one BOOM, one very angry cat
It opens on an extreme close-up of a very serious toddler: "Hello, Mommy." Then the negotiations begin, entirely in toddler. "Zippy Zippy… Chupa Chupa." He nods. He raises a finger for "one moment". He paces in tiny circles twirling an imaginary phone cord. "Dobby Dobby. Daba Daba. Mm-hm. MM-HM." The deal is closing. He climbs onto the sofa and starts tapping the phone on his head like a drum on every beat: "Daba Daba… BOOM BOOM!"
On the second boom, the phone slips, bounces off the sofa arm and pops neatly into two halves, with a cartoon spring and a tiny puff of sparks. Call ended. Mommy runs in, melts, hugs him, and then looks down at what she just picked up. "My sweetheart… my phone."
What follows is a masterclass in toddler crisis management. Step one: become a cat ("Meow meow"). Step two: blame the real cat. Step three, when Biscuit the cat shocks everyone by speaking up ("No, no, that's NOT true!"): gently shush the cat, then tell Mommy with total calm, "Mom. It's not true." Then, for good measure, escape in a red toy supercar while Mommy chases him around the garden, and Biscuit sighs from the fence: "Every. Single. Day."
Why toddlers love pretend phone calls
Toddlers watch us on the phone all day, so of course they copy it. The nodding, the pacing, the "mm-hm, mm-HM": it's all very accurate. To a three-year-old, a phone call is the most important adult activity there is, so doing one makes them feel huge. The words don't matter, the vibe does. "Chupa Chupa Dobby Dobby" is basically a quarterly earnings report.
The other half of the comedy is the cover-up. Little kids are just learning that what they say can change what grown-ups believe, so they try it on everyone, including the cat.
Survival tips for a toddler with a phone habit
- Give them a "work phone". An old phone or a toy one satisfies the CEO urge and keeps yours intact.
- Get a sturdy case. Assume your phone will be used as a drum at least once.
- Play along with the call. Answering "Hello, boss!" builds language and is ridiculously fun.
- Keep consequences small and calm. It makes telling the truth easier than blaming the cat.
- Watch the parts. If you missed them, Part 2 is the cat's trial and Part 3 is the getaway.
